The Financial Manager plays a strategic leadership role in overseeing the financial health of the construction company. This position requires a seasoned financial expert with strong analytical skills, excellent leadership qualities, and a thorough understanding of construction industry dynamics. The Financial Manager will guide the financial planning, risk management, budgeting, and reporting functions to support operational growth, profitability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with the company’s business goals.
Act as a financial advisor to the Board of Directors and the CEO, offering insights and recommendations on short-term and long-term financial planning.
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across projects, departments, and company-wide initiatives.
Oversee all financial reporting, including monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
Monitor construction project costs, margins, and cash flow performance to ensure profitability.
Develop and enforce internal controls to minimize financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Coordinate audits, tax planning, and external financial inspections.
Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to monitor budgets and control costs on construction projects.
Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax consultants, and other financial institutions.
Conduct financial analysis and ROI assessments for new projects, investments, and contracts.
Provide cost-to-complete forecasts and risk mitigation plans for ongoing projects.
Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across multiple projects and company operations.
Optimize cash utilization, financing structures, and investment planning.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Establish KPIs and performance metrics for finance staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).
Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CFA highly preferred.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and working cross-functionally with operations and executive leadership.
Experience in financial management, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
Deep knowledge of construction project accounting, cost control, and financial forecasting.
Strong knowledge of financial systems (ERP), reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
