Leads the engineering and technical function of the contracting organisation, ensuring all design inputs — drawings, specifications, calculations and submittals — are properly interpreted, coordinated and translated into buildable, compliant and cost-effective construction. The bridge between consultant design intent, client requirements and site execution.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Coordination & Design Management: Lead coordination across architectural, structural, MEP, façade and infrastructure disciplines; chair technical coordination meetings; drive constructability reviews to surface risks early.
Shop Drawings, Submittals & RFIs: Govern submittal workflows and the RFI register; track first-time approval rates and cycle times; ensure equivalents and alternatives are properly justified and routed through change control.
BIM & Documentation: Define and enforce the BIM Execution Plan (LOD, federation, clash detection, ISO 19650); oversee 4D / 5D linkage where used; maintain a version-controlled technical archive feeding seamless as-built handover.
Value Engineering & Technical Solutions: Lead VE exercises identifying cost, schedule and quality benefits without compromising design intent; provide practical solutions when site conditions deviate from design assumptions.
Variations, EIs & Claims Support: Review every design change for technical, programme and coordination impact; provide robust technical narratives, drawings and calculations to support commercial submissions and EOT claims.
Codes, Standards & Authority Approvals: Ensure compliance with the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international references (ACI, BS, ASTM, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC); support submissions to Municipality, Civil Defence, SEC, NWC and others.
Stakeholder Coordination: Senior technical point of contact for Consultant and Client; lead negotiations on technical disputes and acceptance criteria; coordinate specialist subcontractor design and interfaces.
Technical Office & Team Leadership: Plan resource loading across projects; implement SOPs, templates and quality gates; lead, develop and mentor the technical office team.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (essential); Master's in Architecture / Construction Management preferred; SCE membership / eligibility desirable; BIM certifications (e.g., ISO 19650, Autodesk Certified Professional) advantageous.
Minimum 20 years of progressive technical experience including 7+ years as Technical Manager / senior technical role at a reputable general contractor or large consultancy.
Demonstrable experience leading the technical office on complex high-rise residential, mixed-use, hospitality or institutional projects. Saudi / GCC experience strongly preferred.
Deep understanding of structures, façades, MEP, vertical transportation, fire / life-safety and sustainability (LEED, Mostadam).
Fluent in AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks; experienced with Aconex / ACC / BIM 360 / ProjectWise / Primavera. Articulate and structured communicator
Strong problem-solver under commercial pressure
Excellent English (Arabic an advantage).
