Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
Develop comprehensive electrical design solutions, including power distribution systems, lighting schemes, control systems, and low-voltage installations.
Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit analysis, and coordination studies.
Design electrical systems in compliance with international standards (IEC, NFPA, BS, NEC) and local regulations.
Coordinate electrical designs with other MEP disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
Review and optimize existing electrical designs for constructability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Prepare detailed design documentation, technical drawings, and specification packages.
Cost Estimation & Commercial Activities
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for complex electrical and MEP engineering projects across multiple markets.
Analyze specifications, drawings, and technical documents to determine accurate material quantities, labor requirements, and installation complexities.
Develop strategic pricing approaches that align with company objectives and diverse regional market conditions.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to validate design assumptions and identify potential project risks.
Maintain and leverage historical cost databases to continuously improve estimating accuracy.
Perform comprehensive risk assessments and determine appropriate contingency values.
Business Development & Client Engagement
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors globally to secure competitive pricing while ensuring quality standards.
Participate in bid/no-bid decision processes by evaluating technical feasibility and commercial opportunities.
Present detailed technical proposals and bid summaries to clients and senior management.
Support value engineering initiatives by proposing alternative design solutions that optimize costs without compromising functionality.
Mentor junior estimators and designers, contributing to the development of standardized procedures and templates.
Utilize cutting-edge AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance both design and estimation processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Registration with relevant national engineering authorities or international professional certification highly preferred.
Professional certification in estimation (Certified Professional Estimator, AACE International) is advantageous.
Ongoing professional development in electrical design, estimation, and emerging technologies.
Experience
7–10 years of progressive experience combining electrical design and cost estimation in MEP construction projects.
Demonstrated track record of successful electrical system designs and accurate project estimates.
Experience with diverse project types, delivery methods, and international market conditions.
Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects involving various trades and systems integration.
Portfolio demonstrating successful electrical design projects across multiple sectors.
Previous experience working on international projects and in challenging environments preferred.
Advanced capabilities with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, InEight, Procore).
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical design principles, power systems analysis, and protection coordination.
Expert understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, installation techniques, and industry standards.
In-depth knowledge of international electrical codes, safety regulations, and design standards.
Proficiency with BIM platforms (e.g., Revit MEP) and digital design/takeoff tools.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including macros, complex calculations, and data analysis functions.
