The Psychiatrist Consultant is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of adult patients with mental health disorders. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care through accurate diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy when appropriate, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, ethics, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments for adult patients.
Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric disorders using evidence-based clinical practices.
Develop individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications while evaluating treatment effectiveness and potential side effects.
Provide psychiatric consultations and clinical recommendations to patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions while ensuring continuity of care throughout the patient's treatment journey.
Assess patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies, including suicide risk, self-harm, aggression, and severe mental illness, and provide appropriate interventions.
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, treatment planning meetings, and clinical governance activities.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, international clinical guidelines, ethical standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, continuing medical education, and professional development activities.
Requirements
Lebanese Nationality
Completion of a recognized specialty training program in Psychiatry.
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
Board Certification or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry.
Eligibility for Consultant licensure in the UAE (DOH, DHA, or MOHAP, as applicable).
Minimum 10 years of experience working as a Psychiatrist Consultant in a reputable hospital.
Proven experience in diagnosing and managing adult psychiatric patients across a wide range of mental health conditions.
Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Excellent documentation and clinical reporting skills.
Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
