The Civil Senior Estimator is responsible for leading estimation process for civil, structural, architectural & fit-out works from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring accurate cost projections and competitive tender submissions that aligns with company strategy. This role involves analyzing project designs, Employer requirements, preparing detailed cost estimates, coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors, and providing strategic input to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end tendering process, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
Lead the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates and material take-off.
Review and interpret all Structure, Architectural & ID Tender Drawings, Specifications and Reports to produce complete and compliant estimates.
Issue Queries to the Client for all found ambiguities and any missed documents, to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
Lead and monitor junior estimators and quantity surveyors in estimation methodologies and best practices.
Lead the estimator team in preparing the packages, sending inquiries to suppliers/subcontractors and replying to all queries received from suppliers/subcontractors.
Coordinate and/or conduct workshop meetings with suppliers/subcontractors when needed, to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
Obtain, review, and evaluate suppliers/subcontractors’ quotations for accuracy and compliance.
Apply comprehensive knowledge of manpower requirements across all trades to develop accurate labor pricing based on productivity benchmarks and current market conditions.
Conduct detailed cost analysis and value engineering and alternative solutions to optimize project budgets without compromising quality.
Identify potential project risks, propose mitigation measures, and support decision-making during the bidding process.
Prepare all Post-Tender Clarifications.
Develop and maintain a reliable network of suppliers and subcontractors for various trades.
Maintain and update a comprehensive database of unit rates, labor costs, material prices, and productivity rates.
Support post-tender handovers to project delivery teams, providing detailed cost breakdowns and clarifications.
Participate in post-project reviews to compare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
6-8 years of relevant experience in cost estimation.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, finishes, and fit-out techniques.
Proficiency in estimation and quantity take-off software (such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, Candy).
Strong knowledge of unit rates, productivity norms, and local market pricing for materials and labor.
Experience in preparing value engineering proposals and cost optimization solutions.
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
