The Estimator Engineer Officer supports the estimation department in preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and pricing for civil and architectural works. The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, assisting in supplier/subcontractor inquiries, and compiling tender documents under the supervision of Lead/Senior estimators or the Estimation Manager. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to develop technical and commercial expertise in construction estimation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of Tender Overview Summary for each received new Tender.
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, and quantity take-offs for various construction disciplines (civil and architectural).
Review tender drawings, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope and requirements.
Prepare packages and send inquiries to suppliers and subcontractors.
Reply to all suppliers and subcontractors requested clarifications and documentation.
Support in gathering and analyzing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Perform rate analysis for materials, labor, and equipment as directed by the lead estimator.
Assist in preparing and organizing tender documentation for submission.
Participate in value engineering exercises and cost optimization studies.
Assist in the preparation of Post-Tender Clarifications and Tender Presentations.
Maintain an organized database of suppliers, subcontractors, and material prices.
Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of cost data.
Support in preparing clarification queries and responding to client or consultant inquiries during the tendering stage.
Learn and apply estimation software tools and methodologies under guidance from senior staff.
Contribute to post-tender analysis and feedback sessions for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
4-5 years of relevant experience in estimation, quantity surveying, or tendering within the construction industry.
Basic understanding of construction drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy in performing take-offs and calculations.
Ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines.
