Job Description

We are seeking an AI Automation Engineer for a leading company in the construction/engineering industry.
The AI Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing AI-powered workflows to optimize various operational processes, including project management, estimation, procurement, and quality control. This role involves identifying opportunities for automation, rapidly prototyping AI solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate these tools into daily operations. The AI Automation Engineer will also focus on scaling successful prototypes, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, driving innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize MEP contracting processes ripe for automation across estimation, project management, quality control, procurement, and administrative functions
  • Rapidly prototype AI-powered solutions using tools like Zapier, Airtable, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and MCP servers to eliminate operational bottlenecks
  • Develop automated workflows for bid preparation, project documentation, material procurement tracking, and compliance reporting
  • Build AI-enhanced systems for drawing review processes, change order management, and project milestone tracking
  • Embed with Commercial Department teams to automate estimation processes, bid preparation workflows, and competitive analysis
  • Partner with Operations teams to streamline project execution tracking, quality assurance documentation, and progress reporting
  • Collaborate with Finance & Administration to automate multi-jurisdictional reporting, invoice processing, and compliance documentation
  • Support Innovation/Digital Department initiatives by building practical AI applications that complement our Procore platform integration
  • Transform successful prototypes into durable, enterprise-ready systems with proper error handling, logging, and monitoring
  • Integrate AI automations with existing tools including Procore, BIM software (Revit, Navisworks), and ERP systems
  • Develop automated data pipelines for project performance analytics, resource utilization tracking, and financial reporting
  • Build AI-enhanced systems and agents for lead generation and filtering for clients, suppliers, employee candidates, and other business opportunities
  • Create AI-powered quality control systems for document review, specification compliance, and drawing coordination
  • Design and deliver training programs for project managers, engineers, and administrators on AI tool adoption
  • Create comprehensive playbooks and documentation for safe and effective AI implementation across international operations
  • Build internal knowledge bases that capture lessons learned from projects and make them accessible through AI-powered search
  • Evangelize responsible AI practices while ensuring compliance with international data protection regulations
  • Track and quantify business impact including time savings, accuracy improvements, and cost reductions
  • Monitor automation performance and continuously optimize workflows based on user feedback and system analytics
  • Debug AI failures, refine prompts, and adjust logic when automations encounter edge cases
  • Establish metrics for measuring ROI on AI implementations across different business functions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional certifications in AI/ML platforms, no-code automation tools, or construction technology preferred
  • MEP engineering concepts and construction project management knowledge is a bonus but not required
  • Recent graduate or early career professional (0-2 years experience)
  • Demonstrated interest in AI automation through personal projects, coursework, hackathons, or side projects
  • Experience with no-code platforms, automation tools, or AI applications preferred but not required
  • Any experience in technical roles, process improvement, or project-based work is advantageous
  • Proficiency with LLM orchestration tools (LangChain, OpenAI Assistants, Claude API)
  • Advanced prompt engineering and AI model optimization techniques
  • Experience with automation platforms (Zapier, Airtable, Power Automate, or similar)
  • Familiarity with construction management software (Procore experience highly preferred)
  • Understanding of BIM workflows and integration possibilities with Revit, Navisworks, and related tools
  • Knowledge of data security best practices, especially for international operations
