The Senior Mechanical Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems on construction projects, ensuring proper analysis of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems in line with project specifications and tender requirements. This role plays a key part in tendering, cost planning, and supporting commercial decision-making through detailed estimation and coordination with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems.
Perform accurate quantity take-offs from IFC drawings using digital tools.
Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Develop BOQs, unit rates, and system-based cost breakdowns.
Analyze and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within tender documents.
Coordinate with design, procurement, and commercial teams during tender stage.
Supervise junior estimators and ensure quality of estimation outputs.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of tenders.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience in estimation within KSA/GCC commercial projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems.
Ability to read IFC drawings, specifications, and understand design concepts (loads, system selection).
Proven experience in quantity take-offs and cost estimation (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors).
Familiarity with KSA supplier market and ability to obtain and evaluate quotations.
Proficiency in Excel and estimation tools (e.g., Candy, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
Exposure to BIM and digital estimation workflows is a plus.
